Celadon Books Acquires Illustrated Gift Book by Patty Marx and Roz Chast

Celadon Books is excited to announce the acquisition of two humorous, illustrated titles by Patty Marx with illustrations by Roz Chast. The first, to be published in April of 2019 in time for Mother’s Day, is a collection of maternal cautions titled WHY DON’T YOU WRITE MY EULOGY NOW SO I CAN CORRECT IT? A MOTHER’S SUGGESTIONS.  The second book will focus on love and dating advice and will publish in time for Valentine’s Day 2020.

Senior Vice President and Co-Publisher Deb Futter has worked individually with both Patty and Roz on past publications, but this will be the first time the three have worked collaboratively.

“Who doesn’t want to publish Patty Marx and Roz Chast?” asks Deb. "Acquiring these was a no-brainer. Who doesn’t want the perfect Mother’s Day and Valentine's Day gifts? I want to hand them to everyone I know!”

Author Patty Marx has been contributing to The New Yorker since 1989. She is a former writer for Saturday Night Live and Rugrats, and is the author of several books, including Let’s Be Less Stupid and Him Her Him Again the End of Him. She has taught screenwriting and humor writing at Princeton, New York University, and Stonybrook University. She was the recipient of a 2015 Guggenheim Fellowship.

Roz Chast, a longtime cartoonist for The New Yorker, has loved to draw since she was a child growing up in Brooklyn. She has received numerous awards and honors and has published many books, including the New York Times best-seller and National Book Award finalist, Can't We Talk About Something More Pleasant? Her most recent book is Going Into Town: A Love Letter to New York.
