Cecily van Buren-Freedman is an editorial assistant at Celadon Books, a division of Macmillan, assisting the Executive Editor, Ryan Doherty. Prior to joining Celadon, Cecily was a Consulting Associate at Geneva Global, a philanthropy consulting firm that helps high-net-worth philanthropists think strategically about their philanthropy.
Cecily is a graduate of the Columbia Publishing Course at the Columbia Journalism School and has a B.A. in English Literature from Haverford College with a focus on literature by black authors and the neo-slave narrative genre. While at Haverford, Cecily developed a love of editing while co-running the Haverford College Writing Center.
Cecily was born and raised in the middle of Manhattan and is very proud of the fact that she doesn’t yet have a driver’s license. In her free time, you can find her at comedy clubs, playing one of her five musical instruments, or attending minor league baseball games.
