Jamie Raab and Deb Futter, Co-Founders of Celadon Books (a division of Macmillan), announced today that Bill Hamilton will join Celadon Books as an Executive Editor, starting April 5, 2021.
For the past five years, Hamilton has been the Washington Editor at The New York Times, overseeing coverage of the Trump White House and the Supreme Court. In an illustrious career as an editor at The Times and The Washington Post, he has focused on national and Washington news and long-form writing. The reporters he has edited include David Maraniss, Bob Woodward, David Finkel, Ann Hull, David von Drehle, Eli Saslow, Peter Baker, David Sanger and Maggie Haberman. Stories he edited in his tenure at the two papers have earned four Pulitzer Prizes and numerous other awards.
At Celadon, Hamilton will focus on acquiring and editing non-fiction, with a special focus on politics and history. “This is a unique moment for our country, when understanding how we have gotten to this point has never been more important.,” Hamilton said. “My goal is to find writers who can help us do that as well as produce books that are a joy to read. And there’s no better place to do this than as part of Jamie and Deb’s team; I look forward to working with a wide range of talent at Celadon.”
