In a recent acquisition from Celadon Books, a debut novel by Arlie Adkins in which two men die suddenly on the same transatlantic flight, leading their devastated spouses — a man and a woman who are complete strangers — to an unlikely friendship and a grief journey across Italy. But when one of them publishes a bestselling memoir about the experience, the detective who had initially deemed the deaths a tragic coincidence starts to suspect that there may be more to the story.
“A fresh psychological suspense debut that is just as fun as its title, Andiamo! melds a rip-roaring mystery with a sharp exploration of grief and the (sometimes strange) lengths people go to cope,” says Lexy Cassola, senior editor at Celadon Books. “It’s darkly funny, twisty, and sneakily warm — and it all takes place against the lush backdrop of a journey through Italy. It’s a quintessential summer read!”
Cassola acquired the book, pitched as psychological suspense by way of Andrew Sean Greer, at auction in a two-book deal from Alexa Stark at Writers House.
