Celadon Books Acquires Dateline Producer Dan Slepian’s Investigative Journalism Book

Celadon Books is proud to announce the acquisition of NBC Dateline producer Dan Slepian’s untitled account of his 20 years of investigative reporting that helped exonerate five wrongly convicted prisoners incarcerated at Sing Sing Correctional Facility. In the course of his investigation, Slepian forged deep and lasting relationships and shone light on a broken criminal justice system. Executive Editor Bill Hamilton acquired the book in an exclusive submission by Larry Weissman at Larry Weissman Literary Agency.

NBC News Studios is producing a documentary based on Slepian's Sing Sing reporting.

Of the acquisition, Hamilton says: “Slepian’s account of how he helped exonerate five wrongly incarcerated men is not just a textbook example of investigative reporting but a moving story of injustice and redemption in the tradition of Bryan Stevenson's Just Mercy. His book will be an extraordinary read for fans of narrative nonfiction.”
