Celadon Books Acquires Debut Novel 'Wasp's Nest' by Kat Stoddard

Celadon Books is proud to announce the acquisition of WASP'S NEST, a debut novel by Kat Stoddard, in which an artist and recovering alcoholic attends his determinedly Type A ex-wife's glamorous Cape Cod wedding with an unpredictable young writer as his fake boyfriend; with only a week until the big day, the past and potential futures collide, leaving all three wondering if their hearts are really meant for only one person, or even one person at a time. WASP'S NEST is a contemporary queer homage to the 1940 film THE PHILADELPHIA STORY, with the emotion and coastal backdrop of THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY.

"Once I started reading WASP'S NEST, I couldn't put it down!" says Editorial Assistant Faith Tomlin. "Kat has written the perfect summer read with the familiar appeal of classic rom com tropes, but spun in unpredictable and original ways that will have you on the edge of your seat. This book has real heart and explores relationships of all kinds: platonic, familial, romantic, the ones that form dysfunctionally, and the ones that seem to stick around even when we try to let go."

Tomlin acquired the book in a pre-empt from Claire Romine at Trident Media Group.

WASP'S NEST is scheduled to be published in summer 2026.
