The Guest sounds very much like the type of taut and plot twisty novel we adore. It centers on Iris and Gabriel, who return from vacation to find their friend Laure inside their home. Laure has just walked out on her husband, Pierre, after he copped to an affair and having a love child. Though Iris and Gabriel are close to Pierre, they still want to be supportive of Laure, so they do their best to make room. After all, she just needs to get back on her feet. What’s the worst that could happen? Turns out, quite a lot.
