Anne Twomey is the Creative Director of Celadon Books, a division of Macmillan Publishers. Prior to this role, she was Vice President, Creative Director of Grand Central Publishing, where she led a talented team of award-winning designers and art directors, designing across imprints including Twelve Books, Forever, and Grand Central Life & Style. She previously worked as a VP, Executive Art Director at St. Martin’s Press and a designer at Pocket Books and Washington Square Press.
Anne has won numerous design, photography, and illustration awards from The New York Book Show, The Art Directors Club, Print, Creativity, AIGA’s 50 Books / 50 Covers, Communications Art’s Design Annual, The Society of Illustrators, and Photo District News. She has also designed/art directed such iconic covers as I Like You by Amy Sedaris, An Object of Beauty by Steve Martin, God is Not Great by Christopher Hitchens, Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith, True Compass by Senator Edward Kennedy, and The Nanny Diaries by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus.
She has served on the Board of The Type Directors Club and chaired their annual competition. She has also juried shows for The New York Book Show, The Art Directors Club, The Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts Magazine and, recently, Typography 29. She is co-founder of She Designs Books, which celebrates and supports the work of female designers in publishing. Anne’s multi-faced involvement with the design community exposes her to the best talent industry-wide and her ability to forge strategic collaborations with top photographers, illustrations, designers, and art directors has resulted in realizing some of the best-designed books and covers in the industry.
